The following are the highlights of Zambia's major media outlets on Saturday.

-- A consumer watchdog has commended the Zambian government for its massive investment in alternative sources of energy which have started yielding results.

Samuel Simutunda, executive director of Zambia Consumers Association said consumers now expected to have access to cheap goods and services because production by manufacturers will now not be affected by frequent power cuts. Power utility, Zesco Limited, has reduced power rationing from eight to four hours and will further reduce it to two hours by the end of the month as the firm will now start getting 300 megawatts of power from a thermal power plant. -- Zambia's electoral body has started translating part three of the country's constitution which deals with people's rights into local languages in the run up to a referendum in August.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia said it has started translated the Bill of Rights into local languages to allow people understand it. (The Post)

-- The United Kingdom has given Zambia 25 million British Pounds to promote conservation farming to help smallholder farmers improve productivity.

The program would train farmers in climate smart agriculture techniques to enable them to understand the steps involved in applying the technology and the benefits they would get. (Daily Nation) Endit
