Xinhua, June 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks made gains Friday morning as the yen's appreciation against the U.S. dollar halted and buoyed the market mood and sent investors after bargains following the market's plunge a day earlier.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 251.52 points, or 1.63 percent, from Thursday to 15,685.66.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 16.88 points, or 1.36 percent, at 1,258.44.

All industry categories on the main section advanced, with notable gainers by the morning break comprising metal products, machinery and transportation equipment-linked stocks. Endit
