Dongfeng, Nissan to recall 6,894 vehicles

Xinhua, June 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor and its joint-venture partner Nissan Motor will recall 6,894 vehicles over software defects in the steering systems, the top quality watchdog said Thursday.

Dongfeng plans to recall 2,924 China-made Infiniti Q50L models manufactured between Oct. 20, 2014 and April 28, 2016, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement.

The Nissan recall involves 3,970 imported Infiniti Q50s produced between Nov. 12, 2013 and Dec. 5, 2015.

Software errors in the cars' direct adaptive steering systems could be dangerous, said the statement.

The recall will start on July 4, with the companies promising to upgrade the defective software for free. Endi
