Myanmar, Australia sign MoU on judicial cooperation

Myanmar Supreme court and the Federal Court of Australia have signed a memorandum of understanding on judicial cooperation in Myanmar's capital of Nay Pyi Taw, official media reported Thursday.

Myanmar Chief Justice U Tun Tun Oo and his Australian counterpart James Leslie Bain Allsop signed the MoU, agreeing to develop work programs for successful implementation of Myanmar's Judiciary Strategic Plan to upgrade the services of the courts across the country.

The Federal Court of Australia has since 1977 been maintaining relations with judicial organizations across the world and cooperating with over 50 international courts.

As a follow-up, a seminar on leadership and change management was held , in which discussions were made on yearly implementation of the work programs in accordance with the MoU. Enditem
