The UN Security Council on Tuesday unanimously adopted a resolution to ensure strict implementation of arms embargo on Libya.

The resolution has authorized member states for a period of one year to inspect, on the high seas off the coast of Libya, vessels coming from or to the country, if they have reasonable grounds to believe the vessels are carrying arms or related materials. (UN-Libya-Arms Embargo)

BRASILIA -- Brazil's Supreme Court president, Ricardo Lewandowski, on Tuesday shelved a request by suspended President Dilma Rousseff to clarify the rights she maintains as a suspended head of state.

The request sought a clarification from interim President Michel Temer on how Rousseff could continue using her official residence, state bodyguards, her staff, and dedicated land and air transportation. (Brazil-Rousseff-Impeachment)

PARIS -- In a new show of strength over the disputed new labor rules, one million people headed by unionists took to the streets here on Tuesday calling for the withdrawal of the reform, trade unions said.

The CGT, France's largest trade union, said hundreds of buses carried protesters from all over France into Paris for a "bigger turnout than at any time in the past four months," CGT head Philippe Martinez said before the start of the demonstration. (France-Labor Reform-Protest)

TEHRAN -- Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Tuesday that if the U.S. leaders want to break the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), or the nuclear deal, the Islamic republic will retaliate.

GAZA -- Israeli war jets launched an airstrike on an area close to the fence of the borders between Israel and southeast Gaza city; no injuries were reported, according to eyewitnesses and paramedics.
