Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev on Tuesday extended condolences to his U.S. counterpart, Barack Obama, over the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida, the Kyrgyz president's press service said.
"Kyrgyzstan strongly condemns this inhuman and appalling act of terrorism, and is absolutely convinced of unacceptable and unjustified acts of terrorism," said Atambayev.
He conveyed sympathy with and support to the families and friends of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Forty-nine people were killed and 53 others wounded early Sunday in the shooting at a gay nightclub. It was the worst mass shooting in U.S. history and the deadliest terror attack since the 9/11 terror attacks in 2001.
The shooter has been identified as Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old who was of Afghan descent but born in the United States. He was killed in an exchange of fire with SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) forces. Endi
