Singapore stocks close 0.61 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 17.10 points, or 0.61 percent, to close at 2,768.33.

A total of 948.8 million shares changed hands with turnover of 815.4 million Singapore dollars (601.2 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 224 to 138, while 542 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 37.54 points, or 1.33 percent, to close at 2,785.43 on Monday. Endit
