German Chancellor Angela Merkel has expressed her shock and condolence on the Orlando nightclub shooting which left at least 50 people dead, said the German government on Monday.

The Chancellor has expressed condolence and sympathy on behalf of the German people to the United States President Barack Obama, according to a government statement. Merkel is currently in a visit to China.

"Our heart is heavy," Merkel said, she was deeply shocked that hatred and malice of an individual person claimed more than 50 lives.

"We are determined, even if such murderous attacks put us in deep sorrow, to continue our open, tolerant life," she added. Endit
