KMT fully supports cross-Strait exchange: KMT vice chairman

Xinhua, June 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Jason Hu, vice chairman of the Kuomintang Party (KMT) said the KMT is fully committed to maintaining peace across the Twaiwan Strait and to supporting continued cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation.

Hu made the remarks in a speech at the opening ceremony of the eighth Straits Forum in Xiamen on Sunday.

He pointed out that the 1992 Consensus is an important foundation for maintaining peace across the Strait, and helps Taiwan without doing any harm. "The KMT will go all out to safeguard cross-Strait peace and fully support continued cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation."

Hu said that during the past decade and more, people on both sides of the Strait have completed a historical mission by creating peace.

Without peace, all would be lost, Hu said, adding that the KMT has the responsibility to maintain peace across the Strait. Endi
