Matriculation exam pass rate down 7.68 pct in Myanmar this year

The matriculation examination pass rate of Myanmar was 7.68 percentage points lower in 2016 as compared with the previous year, according to the Board of Examination Saturday.

A total of 190,388 students passed the matriculation exam for the 2015-2016 academic year, a pass rate of 29.92 percent. Of them, 47,024 students passed with flying colors to join higher education institutions.

There were 636,237 students sitting for matriculation examination in March in 1,467 examination centers including both local and foreign centers.

In Myanmar, students are set to take the matriculation examination before joining universities and high score in the exam is needed to join famous higher education institutions of the country.

The passing rate in 2015 was 37.6 percent, the highest over the previous three years. Endit
