A Chinese company involved in the construction of a mega port city in the Sri Lankan capital on Friday came forward to continue to assist families affected by devastating floods in the country.

CHEC Port City Colombo donated a consignment of dry rations for distribution to Sri Lanka's Ministry of Disaster Management recently.

The consignment was handed to Disaster Management Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, who has instructed his ministry officials to ensure the goods are delivered in a fair and transparent manner.

The Minister has also instructed his officials to take measures to send relief supplies to those affected by landslides outside the Colombo Area.

Port City Colombo also made a donations to the Gangaramaya Temple, a leading Buddhist temple in Colombo which is distributing roofing sheets to the flood victims.

The donation was handed over to the Chief Incumbent of the Gangaramaya temple, the Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero recently.

Last month in the aftermath of the floods that affected residents of the Sedawatte area in proximity to the Kelani River just outside Colombo, Port City distributed dry rations, working closely with the navy to access people who were marooned by the floods.

CHEC Port City Colombo is constructing a major city in the sea at Galle Face in Colombo, which once constructed, is expected to boost Sri Lanka's economy. Endit
