Far Eastern Media Summit 2016 opens in Vladivostok

The Far Eastern Media Summit 2016 opened here Thursday with journalists from Russia, China, South Korea, Japan, the United States and Europe attending.

Seminars and workshops on different themes were held during the two-day media summit.

The delegates discussed a wide range of topics, including the future of contemporary journalism, the global development of the blogosphere, copyright protection and the development of mass media cooperation.

At a plenary session, Vladimir Miklushevsky, governor of Russia's Primorsky region, said: "We can now say definitely that a successful format was chosen. Not only are journalists discussing the development of the media sphere among themselves, but authorities are also meeting with media representatives."

Media representatives of Russia's Primorsky region and China's Northeastern provinces discussed the prospects of media information exchanges as well as the media's role in promoting bilateral economic development.

Alexey Kazakov, director of the Primorsky region's Information Policy Department, told Xinhua that the Far Eastern Media Summit has attracted Chinese journalists from the border provinces, which is conducive to media cooperation between Russia and China.

The first Far Eastern Media Summit was held in Vladivostok in the summer of 2014, bringing together more than 650 journalists and officials of press services. The second summit attracted some 1,900 participants. Endi
