The United States has designated the Syrian group Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade (YMB) as a terrorist organization, the State Department said Thursday.

As a result of this designation, all property subject to U.S. jurisdiction in which the YMB has any interest is blocked and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in any transactions with the YMB.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday formally threw support behind Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for president.

TRIPOLI -- A senior Islamic State (IS) leader was killed on Thursday in clashes with the Libyan government's presidential guards in Sirte, some 450 km east of the capital Tripoli, according to local media sources.

LIMA -- Peruvian economist Pedro Pablo Kuczynski will be the next president of Peru, the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) confirmed at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

After a long four-day count, Kuczynski from the Peruvians for Change (PPK) edged out his rival Keiko Fujimori, from Popular Force, with a wafer-thin margin, winning by 50.117 percent to 49.883 percent. The difference in the total votes was of 41,438 with 8,580,474 votes for Kuczynski and 8,539,036 for Fujimori.(Peru-President-Election)
