An upscale economic forum of the European Union (EU) is set to kick off Thursday to discuss measures needed to further shore up the bloc's sluggish economy and deepen structural reforms.

The Brussels Economic Forum (BEF), dubbed a flagship annual economic event of the European Commission, EU's executive arm, would gather the bloc's policy makers, opinion leaders as well as civil society and business leaders, said the forum's official website.

The 16th edition BEF would focus on topics including investment plan, structural reforms, economic downturns, Economic and Monetary Union, and member states' practice, it noted.

The President of European Central Bank Mario Draghi is set to address the forum, the BEF said. Endit
