1st LD Writethru: Militants kill 12 people in Afghan eastern Ghazni province

Anti-government militants have killed 12 people in the eastern Ghazni province, spokesman for provincial governor Jawed Salangi said Wednesday.

"Taliban rebels after intercepting passengers buses and kidnapping several travelers over the past two months on Kabul-Ghazni and Ghazni-Paktia highways, brutally executed 12 of their hostages in Kamawal area of Andar district on Tuesday afternoon," Salangi told Xinhua.

Taliban militants have yet to make comment.

In similar incident, Taliban militants intercepted three passenger busses in the northern province on May 31. After kidnapping some 200 commuters, the Taliban militants executed 10 of them and took 45 others to unknown locations. Endit
