Venezuelan telecom technicians to receive training in China

Xinhua, June 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Venezuela's national telephone service company CANTV will send 37 employees to China to receive telecommunications training, Venezuela's state-run VTV reported Tuesday.

The trainees are set to travel to China on Saturday and "will be trained for the development and innovation in the country of information and communications technology", Manuel Fernandez, president of CANTV, said.

The president underscored the importance of the opportunity to learn firsthand from Chinese telecom companies such as Huawei, with which Venezuela has several agreements on technology transfer.

Fernandez also stressed that it is important to cooperate with China to strengthen Venezuela's oil-based economy, which has been hard hit by falling oil prices.

"A key way to attain sovereignty and economic independence is through knowledge," Fernandez said. Endi
