Defender Antonio Ruediger sustained a knee injury during Germany' s team training in Evian, France, the German Football Federation (DFB) said in an official statement on Tuesday night.

The 23-year-old AS Roma defender sustained an anterior cruciate rupture in his right knee, an examination by team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt revealed.

Ruediger will miss the UEFA European Championships, which kick-off in Paris on June 10. Germany coach Joachim Loew will call up a late replacement for Ruediger in the coming days.
