At least five people were killed and 11 others wounded on Tuesday in a car bomb explosion near a commercial building in the Shiite holy city of Karbala in south of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, a police source said.

The blast occurred around noon when a booby-trapped car detonated near al-Jawahiri commercial building in Muwadhafin district in the city of Karbala, some 110 km south of Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-Car bomb)

BRUSSELS -- The eurozone economy grew by 0.6 percent instead of 0.5 percent estimated previously in the first quarter of 2016, the highest rate for 12 months, according to figures issued on Tuesday by the European statistics agency Eurostat.

Eurostat said gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.6 percent month-on-month and by 1.7 percent year-on-year. (EU-GDP)

ISTANBUL -- Seven police officers and four civilians were killed and 36 others injured in the car bombing attack on a police shuttle bus in Istanbul on Tuesday, the governor said.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Monday reached the number of 2,383 delegates needed to become the first-ever female nominee of a major political party in the United States, according to the latest AP delegate count.
