China wins sixth Montreux crown after beating Thailand 3-0

Xinhua, June 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Chinese women's volleyball team defeated Thailand 3-0 on Sunday for the title of the Montreux Volley Masters.

The victory brought China's sixth Montreux crown after title winning efforts in 2010, 2007, 2003, 2001 and 1990 (BCV Volley Cup).

Chinese veteran Hui Ruoqi scored 15 points and led the team past its rival 25-14, 25-20, 25-23.

The Chinese appeared with full energy to snatch the first set without much trouble. In the second set, the two teams played a see-saw game until the Chinese triumphed with strong attacks and effective blocks.

The Thais had led in the third set for several times until the Chinese leveled it 23-23. Finally, the better team won, following Thai's faulty service and a devastating attack by Liu Xiaotong. Endit
