Xinhua, June 4, 2016 Adjust font size:
A UK visa application center is scheduled to come into service on June 10 in northwest China's Xi'an, home to Terra-Cotta Warriors.
This will bring the number of UK's visa application centers in China from 12 to 15, along with another two to open in central China's Changsha City, and southwest China's Kunming City, according to the Shaanxi provincial foreign affairs office.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron promised to expand its network of visa application centers in China in October 2015, when Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to UK.
Finland, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Sweden, Greece, France and Germany have opened visa application centers in Xi'an.
Malaysia, South Africa, the Netherlands and Italy are expected to follow suit by the end of this year.
Statistics from local customs show 1.5 million travelers entered or left China via Xi'an in 2015, an increase of more than 50 percent over the previous year. Two-thirds of them were from the inland of China. The numbers are expected to continue to grow this year. Endi
