China, Indonesia to strengthen communication, China-ASEAN relations: Chinese FM

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi and discussed bilateral cooperation during the Middle East Peace Initiative ministerial conference here on Friday.

Wang said Indonesia is a regional power and an important neighbor country of China.

To deepen and develop the friendly Sino-Indonesian relations is conducive to regional peace and stability, and the development of the China-ASEAN relations, the Chinese foreign minister stressed.

Wang added China is willing to deepen communication and cooperation in various fields, dock China's Belt and Road Initiative with Indonesia's strategy of the Global Maritime Fulcrum, push forward strategic cooperation, and continue to benefit the people of the two countries.

For her part, Retno said China is an important partner of Indonesia, and the economic and trade cooperation has developed rapidly. The cooperation between China and ASEAN has also made fruitful achievements.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo attaches great importance to developing relations with China, Retno said, adding that Indonesia is willing to strengthen the communication with China, expand cooperation, push the Sino-Indonesian and China-ASEAN relations to a higher level. Endit
