Xinhua, Indonesia's Antara pledge to enhance cooperation

Xinhua, June 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Vice President of China's Xinhua News Agency Long Xinnan on Friday met with Aat Surya Safaat, editor-in-chief of Indonesia's Antara News Agency and the two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in an effort to further boost the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

As comprehensive strategic partners, China and Indonesia have been expanding their cooperation in various areas and maintaining sound communication in regional and international affairs, said Long, adding Xinhua is willing to strengthen the practical cooperation with Indonesian media organizations including Antara, to further boost relations between the two countries.

Hailing the fruitful cooperation between Xinhua and Antara since 1957, Long suggested that the two sides jointly launch in-depth coverage on topics of common interest and take advantage of the new media platform for diversified ways of reporting.

The two news agencies can also deepen their exchanges and cooperation by jointly holding photo exhibitions and conducting personnel exchange, Long added.

While introducing Xinhua's efforts and achievements on its path of reforms, Long specially mentioned the newly-launched China Economic Information Service (CEIS), an affiliate of Xinhua that aims at providing quality economic information to its clients.

For his part, Safaat expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with Xinhua, adding that he looks forward to visiting Beijing to learn from Xinhua's development.

Commenting on Long's suggestion for further cooperation, he said Antara is interested in cooperating with the CEIS as the information it provides caters to the increasing demand from investors of both countries as economic ties between Indonesia and China deepen. Endit
