China unveils women's Olympic qualifying squad

Xinhua, June 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Chinese women's basketball team Friday released their 12-strong roster for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT).

Ma Xueya and Qiu Siyue will not be able to visit France with the team.

"They (Ma and Qiu) trained very hard, and coach Thomas Maher thought that they deserved a spot in the final 12. However, the team should take tactical elements into consideration, and after all, the number of players is limited," said Xue Yunfei, the team manager.

The Chinese team will fly to France on Sunday for their last phase preparation for the OQT, which is held in Nantes from June 13-19, featuring 12 teams for last five spots in the Rio Olympics.

China is placed in Group D along with Spain and Venezuela. Enditem
