Tokyo stocks creep higher in morning as investors seek out bargains

Tokyo stocks crept higher Friday Morning as a selloff here over the past two days sent investors after bargains, with sentiment also boosted by a strong showing on Wall Street overnight.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 27.42 points, or 0.17 percent, from Thursday to 16,589.97.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 0.87 point, or 0.07 percent, to 1,332.68.

Notable gainers by the morning break comprised fishery, agriculture and forestry, retail, and oil and coal product-linked stocks. Endit
