3 terrorists captured in southern Afghan city

Personnel of Afghan law enforcement agencies had captured three terrorists in Kandahar city, capital of southern province of Kandahar, the National Directorate for Security (NDS) said on Thursday.

"Personnel of NDS have captured Bakhtullah, Abdul Ghafar and Rahmatullah, three terrorists of Taliban outfit, during a recent operation in Kandahar city," the national intelligence agency said in a statement.

The captives were involved in several subversive activities, including planting landmines and laying ambushes against security forces along a highway connecting Kandahar to neighboring Zabul province, the statement added.

"They also served a weapon and ammunition facilitators to Taliban outfit," the statement pointed out.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since early April when the militant group launched its annual rebel offensive in different areas of the country.
