Urgent: Strong quake strikes off western Indonesia, no tsunami alert issued

A shallow quake of 6.5 magnitude jolted off West Sumatra province of Indonesia earlier on Thursday but there was no potential for tsunami, an official from the meteorology and geophysics agency told Xinhua by phone. Endit
