The UN Security Council on Tuesday renewed sanctions on South Sudan for another year to support the implementation of a peace agreement in the country.
In a unanimously adopted resolution, the 15-nation council decided to renew the travel bans and asset freezes imposed on individuals obstructing the peace deal and meanwhile extend the mandate of the panel of experts who monitor the sanctions for 13 months. (UN-South Sudan-Sanctions)

BAMAKO, Mali -- The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) camp in Gao was attacked Tuesday which may have caused "serious damages", according to local residents in the city.

VIENNA -- Researchers at the Austrian Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) in Vienna have made a potential breakthrough discovery that could aid in the prevention of genetically-determined breast cancer.
The team, which conducted the research in collaboration with colleagues from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, found that this form of breast cancer could largely be prevented by blocking a bone gene, the IMBA said in a press release Tuesday. (Austria-Breast Cancer)

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian air force carried out airstrikes against a camp which belongs to jihadi rebel groups in the northwestern province of Idlib on Tuesday, leaving many casualties, pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV reported.
