Belarus external debt climbs to 13.1 bln USD

Belarus state debt amounted to 13.1 billion U.S. dollars as of May 1, an increase of 651.7 million U.S. dollars since the beginning of the year, the finance ministry said on Tuesday.

In January-April 2016 Belarus attracted foreign government loans amounting to 781.4 mln U.S. dollars, including 500 mln U.S. dollars loan from Eurasian Found of Stabilization and Development (EFSR), 153 mln U.S. dollars from the Russian Federation, 111.1 mln U.S. dollars from China's banks and 17.3 mln U.S. dollars from IBRD loans, the ministry said.

A total of 244.1 mln U.S. dollars have been returned since the beginning of 2016 (88.3 mln U.S. dollars to EFSR, 87.5 mln U.S. dollars - the Russian government, 49.3 mln U.S. dollars - China's banks, 18.3 mln U.S. dollars - IBRD, 0.7 mln U.S. dollars USD - the U.S.).

Belarus domestic debt as of May 1 totaled 94.9 trillion rubles, an increase of 2.5 trillion rubles from the beginning of the year, or 2.6 percent.

The external debt of Belarus as of January 1, 2016 amounted to 12.4 billion U.S. dollars and decreased by 1.1 percent over 2015, the domestic debt reached 97.4 trillion Belarusian rubles, having increased by 2 times.

The domestic debt's limit in the current year was approved in the amount of 115 trillion rubles, the limit of foreign debt - 17 billion U.S. dollars. Endit
