Record fine levied on Bundesliga club Wolfsburg

Xinhua, May 31, 2016 Adjust font size:

VfL Wolfsburg was handed a club record fine of 90,000 euros on Monday after one of their fans fired a flare that hit the Hanover bench during a Bundesliga match in March.

The German FA (DFB) said Wolfsburg must spend 40,000 euros of the total fine to improve their security arrangements. The club accepted the fine.

Before kick-off of the March 1 match, visiting Wolfsburg fans fired flares, one of which hit the roof of the Hanover bench and exploded, forcing the home substitutes to scatter. Eventually Wolfsburg won 4-0. Endit
