Emirates Airline, the Dubai-based state owned international carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), said here Monday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Jordan Tourism Board to help Jordan attract more tourists.

The two sides said in a joint statement that they will conduct "a range of joint marketing activities," including tourism promotions, participation in conferences and exhibitions.

Emirates Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Thierry Antinori said the airline is "committed to promoting tourism from key target regions including the Far East and Australasia, West Asia and Central and South America... through our strong global connectivity."

Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, managing director of the Jordan Tourism Board, expressed the hope that the common efforts with Emirates will inspire travellers from the Far East, Central and South America and West Asia to come and explore Jordan where they can enjoy "a rich history and antiquities, culture and adventure."
