1st LD: Jordan's king appoints new PM

King Abdullah II of Jordan appointed Hani al Mulqi as prime minister, the state-run PETRA news agency reported.

Al Mulqi, who will succeeds Abdullah Ensour as prime minister, was Jordan's former foreign minister and ex-ambassador to Egypt.

Also on Sunday, the King issued a Royal Decree, dissolving the Parliament, which has ended its four-year term.

The incoming prime minister was charged with overseeing elections before the end of the year, according to media sources.

According to Jordan's constitution, elections will be held within four months following the end of parliament's term. Enditem
