Road accident kills 7 in southern Algeria

Seven people were killed on Friday in a deadly road accident occurred in the desert province of Tamnerasset in southern Algeria, local media reported.

According to Algerie1 news website, the accident occurred at dawn, when a semi trailer collided with a bus coming from the opposite direction on a road linking the southernmost provinces of Ouargla and Tamenrasset.

Fire fighters and ambulances rushed to provide first aids to the victims. Five people were killed on the spot, while two others died later at hospital. Another two passengers are in critical condition as they are still receiving medical treatments.

Similar road accidents are frequent in Algeria. Overspeed and fatigue of drivers are the main reasons for such accidents, road police investigations concluded. Enditem
