The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa Mohamed Ibn Chambas on Friday hailed the "satisfactory conduct" of May 22 municipal elections in Burkina Faso.

"I commended president Kabore as well as the government and people of Burkina Faso for the satisfactory conduct of last week local elections," said Chambas, who is also the Head of the UN Office for West Africa (UNOWA), told the press.

These elections, he said, "bring a successful conclusion to the transition process in Burkina Faso."
