Burundi seizes smuggled items on border with DRC

Xinhua, May 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

Burundi has seized smuggled items including medicine and clothes on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the past two days, a senior official said Wednesday.

"We seized more than 200 boxes of drugs while they were being shipped from Burundi to the DRC. Several boxes of batteries and 256 pieces of clothes were also seized while being transported from the DRC to Burundi," said Emmanuel Ndayiziga, an official of the Burundi Revenue Authority.

The seized medicine, hidden under construction materials, will be given to the Burundian Health Ministry, he said. Endi
