Cristiano Ronaldo drops new contract hint

Xinhua, May 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo dropped a hint on Wednesday that he could extend his contract with Real Madrid beyond 2018.

The 31-year-old' s current deal is due to expire in two years when he will be 33 years old and there have been rumors that he could be considering a move to Paris Saint Germain or even a return to Manchester United.

However, speaking on Spanish TV network, La Sexta, Ronaldo implied that far from thinking of leaving Madrid, he would be staying beyond 2018.

"We' ll see what happens," he responded when asked if he would renew his deal, before commenting extending his contract would "be an intelligent act from Real Madrid."

"Of course I want to stay at Madrid ... Now I happy and I want to stay at the club, because I don' t see a club that is better than Madrid. If you balance everything out, there is nothing better," said Ronaldo, who added "everyone else can forget it, because Madrid is the best."

He praised Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, saying he was "timid, but very positive," and someone he "identified with."

"He does not have a lot of experience as a coach, but he is finding his way very well and I like that," commented Ronaldo.

The striker had caused an injury scare on Tuesday when he left the training session after a collision with goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, but Ronaldo trained on Wednesday with no problem and insisted he would be fit for the final.

"Cristiano is always in the games he has to play in and I will be 100 percent fit," he insisted. Endit
