All-Chinese pairs Xu Yifan/Zheng Saisai and Liang Chen/Wang Yafan advanced to the women's doubles second round after respective straight-set wins at Roland Garros on Wednesday.

The ninth-seeded Xu and Zheng, who partnered with each other earlier this year to make the doubles semifinals at Australian Open, ousted the pair of compatriot Han Xinyun and Varvara Lepchenko of the United States with a 6-4, 6-4 victory in one hour and 24 minutes.

Liang and Wang, who've been pairing up with each others from time to time since earlier last year, earned a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 (3) victory over Nicole Melichar of the United States and Alicia Rosolska of Poland.

The only other Chinese to play in women's doubles is Zhang Shuai, the surprising quarterfinalist of singles at this year's Australian Open, who faces her doubles partner Samantha Stosur, the 21st seed at Roland Garros, in a women's singles second round encounter on Wednesday. Endit
