1st LD Writethru: 3 security personnel killed in firing in NW Pakistan

At least three security personnel were killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on a paramilitary forces' vehicle in Pakistan's northwest city of Peshawar on Wednesday morning, reported local Urdu TV channel Samaa.

According to the reports, the firing incident happened at about 9:40 a.m. ( local time) on the ring road of the city when a vehicle carrying three paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) personnel came under attack by three gunmen riding on motorcyles.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the site shortly after the firing was reported.

Rescuers said two of the FC men died on the spot while the third succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.

The gunmen fled the scene after the attack, said police, adding that they have kicked off a search operation in the surrounding area.

No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack yet. Endit
