Burkina Faso calls on World Bank to relieve lending terms

Xinhua, May 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Burkina Faso National assembly Chairman Salifou Diallo on Tuesday called on the World Bank to relieve lending terms and to increase the intervention portfolio of the bank toward the West African country.

He made the appeal in his speech at the opening ceremony of capacity building session initiated by the World Bank for Burkina Faso parliamentarians in the capital Ouagadougou on Tuesday.

Diallo also urged the World Bank to accelerate the implementation of its projects and programs in the West African country.

The representative of the World Bank to Burkina Faso, Cheick Kante, said the financial institution is ready to support the West African country in various fields of development.

The ongoing capacity building session for parliamentarians in terms budgetary control, he explained, is part of this support.

"Budget control in public finances is a very important aspect in the development of a country," Kante said.

The capacity building session is scheduled to close on May 26.

It is expected to enable Burkina parliamentarians to know more about their role in the preparation, adoption, execution and the control of the budget. Endit
