China's Zheng crashes out of first round at Roland Garros

China's Zheng Saisai was beaten in straight sets by No. 22 seed Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia on Tuesday, as both her compatriots went through to the second round of the women's singles at Roland Garros.

Zheng committed six double faults and 16 unforced errors throughout one hour and 26 minutes, and won just one out of her four breaking points before losing 6-3, 6-1 to the 25th-ranked Cibulkova.

"I just couldn't pull myself together this morning," said Zheng, who was No. 1 in China earlier this year but has slipped to world No. 85 after disappointing trips to clay courts in Madrid and Rome.

"Facing an opponent like Cibulkova, you need a beyond excellent performance to beat her up," said Zheng.

"I think I've achieved some progress recently, especially in serving, but just failed to show it on court," added Zheng, who's played non-stop for the last four months and admitted she's really feeling it after such a tight schedule.

"It taught me that I need to make a thorough selection over tournaments, even when I'm thirsty for Tour points in chasing a berth to the Rio Olympic Games."

The 22-year-old ranked the 85th ahead of the French Open and is almost missing an Olympic ticket.

In another early match on Tuesday morning, China's Asian Games champion Wang Qiang took just 51 minutes to wrap up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over French wildcarder Tessah Andrianjafitrimo.

The 24-year-old world No.74 from North China's Tianjin city will next play the 12th-seeded Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro, who rallied past Czech qualifier Katerina Siriakova 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

Australian Open quarterfinalist Zhang Shuai also made an easy through to the second round, resuming a suspended match from 5-5 in the first set and coming out the eventual winner over 31-year-old Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan 7-5, 6-2.

Zhang's next opponent is the 21st-seeded Australian Samantha Stosur, who will partner up the Zhang in the women's doubles play starting Wednesday. Endit
