PNA condemns killing of girl by Israeli police

Xinhua, May 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

A senior Palestinian National Authority (PNA) official condemned on Monday the killing of a Palestinian girl by Israeli police at an army roadblock in northern Jerusalem.

Adnan al-Husseini, the PNA minister of Jerusalem Affairs, told Xinhua that "the Israeli murder of a Palestinian girl at an Israeli army roadblock is a continuation of the Israeli policy of murder in cold blood."

Earlier on Monday, the PNA health ministry announced in a press statement that a Palestinian young woman was shot dead at an Israeli army checkpoint near the village of Beit Iksa in northern Jerusalem.

An Israeli policewoman said in a press statement that the young woman tried to stab one of the Israeli police officers at the checkpoint, adding that the police opened fire and shot her dead.

The identity of the young woman wasn't immediately known, however, Palestinian social media activists published short video clips of the Palestinian woman laid on the ground bleeding after she was shot.

The last Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli fire on May 3 after he tried to run his car over Israeli soldiers at an Israeli army roadblock near the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Since the beginning of October, 207 Palestinians and 34 Israelis were killed amid surge of violence, according to official figures. Endit
