Xinhua, May 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least 11 people were killed and seven others injured after a vehicle carrying them rammed into a truck in northern Indian state of Punjab, officials said Monday.

The vehicle met with the accident Sunday in Amritsar, the holy city of Sikh community.

"Eleven pilgrims were killed and seven injured yesterday, when their vehicle crashed into a truck in Amritsar," a police official said.

The deceased were pilgrims on way to pay obeisance at Golden Temple, the sacred shrine of Sikhs.

The injured were admitted in a hospital in Amritsar.

On Friday, 14 people were killed and 31 others injured after a bus carrying them skidded off mountainous road and into a deep gorge in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh.
