Airstrikes kill 8 militants in N. Afghanistan

At least eight armed insurgents were killed as government aircrafts targeted Taliban hideouts in Baghlan-e-Markazi district of Baghlan province on Saturday evening, police spokesman in the province Zabihullah Sheja said Sunday.

"Acting upon intelligence report, the government aircrafts targeted Taliban positions killing eight rebels on the spot yesterday evening," Sheja told reporters here.

Taliban militants have yet to make comment.

Baghlan-e-Markazi, Dand-e-Ghori and Dand-e-Shahabudin districts in the northern Baghlan province have been the scene of bloody conflicts between government forces and Taliban fighters since early this year. Enditem
