Afghan president leaves for Qatar on two-day visit

Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani left here on Saturday for Qatar for a two-day official visit to the Gulf state, said a statement issued by the country's Presidential Palace.

President Ghani will meet Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani during his visit, according to the statement.

The two sides will exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The Afghan leader will also meet Qatari traders as well as Afghan businessmen based in Qatar during his trip, the statement noted.

Afghan National Security Advisor Mohammad Anif Atmar, Afghan Minister of Agriculture Assadullah Zamir and Dr. Homayon Qaumi senior advisor to the president were among other officials accompanying the president, the statement said. Endit
