Bolivian president awarded in Cuba

Xinhua, May 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Cuban leader Raul Castro on Friday awarded Bolivian President Evo Morales the highest state medal.

Castro conferred the Jose Marti Order to Morales at a ceremony as part of the state visit of Morales.

"Cuba for me and the Bolivian people is a deep source of inspiration because of its resistance, anti-imperialist ideas, and a socialist model to follow," said Morales after receiving the medal.

Morales warned that "imperialist powers" are trying to end left-leaning democratic processes in different South American nations.

"The U.S. tried to isolate Cuba for over 50 years but it turned out they isolated themselves with that policy from the rest of Latin America," he said.

Morales and Castro also witnessed the signing of a bilateral cooperation plan for 2016. Endi
