Bayern' s Mario Goetze to miss German Cup final

Mario Goetze will miss the German Cup final against Dortmund after suffering a rib facture, Bayern Munich said in an official statement on Friday.

The 23-year-old German international sustained a broken rib in Bayern' s 3-1 victory over Hannover at the final round in Bundesliga on Saturday.

Goetze received treatment and travelled with his teammates to Berlin but after the final training session on Friday it became clear that a "fielding in the final is impossible" . He will have to take a rest for the next 10 to 14 days. However, his participation in the EURO 2016 in France is not at stake.

The former Dortmund midfielder joined Bayern Munich in 2013 to provide 22 goals in 73 appearances overall. In addition, he scored 17 goals in 50 international caps for Germany. His goal in the 113th minute against Argentina secured Germany' s fourth World Cup title.

The "Bavarians" , who reaped the fourth consecutive Bundesliga title last week, have the chance to wrap up the domestic double with a win over Dortmund in the German Cup final in Berlin. Endit
