Hoffenheim' s Kevin Volland joins Bayer Leverkusen

Xinhua, May 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

Kevin Volland has agreed on a transfer from Hoffenheim to Bayer Leverkusen, both Bundesliga clubs confirmed in a statement on Friday.

The "Werkself" have reinforced their squad for next season as the 23-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a five-year deal, which keeps him in Leverkusen until June 2021.

"With his speed, power and eye for the goal he will surely enhance our offence," Leverkusen' s sporting director Rudi Voeller said. "We are glad that we were able to sign him despite many clubs who were after him."

Volland spent four years at Hoffenheim where he marked 33 goals in 132 Bundesliga appearances. He earned his first call up in May 2014 to make six international caps for Germany ever since.

"I felt extremely comfortable in Hoffenheim, and I extended my contract in the past year despite other offers," Leverkusen' s new arrival said. "Now, I grabbed the chance to join a top club like Bayer Leverkusen where I can play Champions League."

Bayer Leverkusen concluded the Bundesliga season 2015-2016 on the third place, qualifying directly for the UEFA Champions League. Endit
