Singapore stocks close 0.87 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 23.71 points, or 0.87 percent, to close at 2,763.82.

A total of 892.7 million shares changed hands with turnover of 885.3 million Singapore dollars (641.0 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 204 to 176, while 528 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 37.00 points, or 1.33 percent, to close at 2,740.11 on Thursday. Endit
