1st LD Writethru: 1 killed, 5 injured as blast hits police vehicle in SW Pakistan

At least one policeman was killed and five others were injured when their vehicle was hit by a blast in Pakistans southwest Quetta city Thursday morning, local Urdu media reported.

Geo TV said that the Policemen were on their routine patrolling when their vehicle was attacked by a roadside planted device in Eastern Bypass area of Quetta, the capital city of the countrys southwest Balochistan province.

Police said that some unknown militants exploded the roadside explosives on the vehicle of Balochistan Constabulary department of police with a remote control and fled the scene.

The vehicle was completely destroyed in the blast. The injured policemen have been shifted to military hospital in the city.

Police and security forces rushed to the blast site, following the attack, and cordoned it off for investigations.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and separatist groups of the province remained involved in attacks on security forces in the past.

Earlier on May 10, the TTP claimed a blast at a police vehicle in the city, which left two policemen killed and 11 others injured. Endit
