Cultural event on NW China wraps up Italian leg of tour

A cultural event which aims to promote westerners' understanding about the intangible cultural heritage of northwestern China has wrapped up the Italian leg of its tour on Monday.

During the two-day event, under the title "Experience western China", organizers screened "Imagine West", a documentary on China's Tibet Autonomous Region, put on a stage performance and held a round-table discussion on the economic prospect of its vast western region which is expected to play an important role in China's Belt and Road initiative.

The Belt and Road Initiative, which comprises the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, was proposed by China in 2013, with the aim of building a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along the ancient Silk Road routes.

The two-day event was jointly organized by China's State Council Information Office, China's Embassy in Italy and China's Consulate in Milan. The event will move to German cities of Frankfurt and Stuttgart in the next few days. Endit
