Two people were shot and wounded at a high school graduation ceremony in Kansas on Sunday.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. Sunday at the Augusta High School ceremony in the state of Kansas. In the shooting that has been described as a "knucklehead situation" by local police chief, a man adjusted his sock and triggered the pistol he had stuffed into. The bullet penetrated the man's foot and continued to fly for about 15 meters before hitting a woman in her calf. (US-Shooting Accident)

SANTO DOMINGO -- Dominican Republic's incumbent president, Danilo Medina, enjoys a strong lead in the presidential race and is poised to win an easy re-election, early results of Sunday's election showed.

The preliminary outcome from 15 percent of polling stations gave Medina 61 percent of the vote, while his closest rival, Luis Abinader, gained 35 percent. (Dominican Republic-Election-Danilo Medina)

DAMASCUS -- Four civilians were killed on Monday in airstrikes by a U.S.-led coalition on Syria's eastern province of Deir al-Zour, Syrian national TV reported.

The U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State (IS) carried out several airstrikes on the city of Bukamal in the countryside of Deir al-Zour, killing three children and a woman, the report said. (Syria-Airstrike)

TEHRAN -- Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said the country's crude production and exports have almost doubled compared to the levels seen during the sanctions period, local media reported on Monday.

"Thanks to JCPOA , production and export of crude oil and its byproducts have risen two-fold compared to the sanctions period," Zanganeh was quoted as saying by Iran's Financial Tribune daily, using the acronym of Iran's nuclear agreement with six world powers. (Iran-Oil-Export)
